Having to refresh page to clear timeout errors when rendering dashboards/reports

Howdy all,

We are using Pro licenses to access shared workspaces with dashboards and reports through the PowerBI site, our gateway, with an SSAS server on the backend.  There are data restrictions in SSAS, so the queries are dynamic to SSAS.

Recently, some of our users are getting a popup box with "Something went wrong" and Timeout occurred when sending or receiving a request.  This seems to be intermittent and I rarely see the same error when I check.  Sometimes the dashboard/report will partially render before the message appears and sometimes it won't render at all.  There doesn't appear to be any significant load on the gateway machine/process or the SSAS server.

Generally, the user has to refresh the page and it will display.  But they are complaining about having to do so.  Has anyone else experienced this and have you found a way to resolve it?

@usworleyk Ah, the lovely "Something went wrong" error.

I would try a couple things. First, have one of the people tell you immediately next time it happens. Then check the gateway logs to see if you can determine if there was any error more specific than that.

Another thing to try would be to have the end user clear their browser cache. I've read that a few times throughout the forums as a solution to some issues. Outside of that, it is hard to troubleshoot these one offs. If it persists and is a real irritation, a support ticket may be your only option.
