Give others Edit Access

So elementary, yet I can't find up to date information on it anywhere more recently than 2015. How is this not an easy to find standard feature?  Is it even possible?

Hi, @dniedrauer

This is cited from the official document: powerbi-service-share-unshare-dashboard

  • Everyone you share it with can see your dashboard and interact with your reports in Reading View. They can't create new reports or save changes to existing reports.

  • Everyone can see the changes you make.

  • No-one can see or download the dataset.

Best Regards!

Share *the Workspace* where the report in question resides in addition to sharing appropriate permissions for the report itself.

In my recent experience, if you only share permissions to the report, they will not get access until appropriate Workspace permissions are given.

Hi @dniedrauer,

If you share a dashboard with others, they can't edit it. Maybe you could try to create an apps workspace.

About sharing a dashboard, please reference here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-share-unshare-dashboard/

About apps workspace:https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-what-are-apps/

Power BI documents: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-landing-page/

Or maybe you should post more information about your idea.

Best Regards!

My idea is a very basic one: I should be able to give others the right to edit my dashboards/reports.

Case in point: I have a dashboard set up so that recipients can change the customer and then export to Power Point. However, unless you have save capabilities, they can't export the new customer data to Power Point. It stays stuck on the old customer I saved it with.

It's as if y'all's answers are as obtuse as the interface.  You're telling him instructions for how it can't be done.
