We have an enviroment where we have multiple clients on the same SQL server. I was wondering if it is possible to use the same Gateway for multiple clients.
Solved! Go to Solution.
@aoberlander If they have access to the database, I'm guessing via a SQL login, then they can extract the data into their tenant which is where their Power BI Service is hosted. They would install their own gateway to refresh the reports that they create in their tenant. You couldn't set up a gateway in your domain that they could use because they don't belong to your domain... (At least this is my understanding of it).
Hi @aoberlander,
As the @Seth_C_Bauer said, the Client 1 and 2 can not use the same gateway to refresh their data because they are in different domains.

@aoberlander The gateway is just the refresh mechanism for your datasets. If you want to refresh all your datasets through the gateway there isn't any restriction on that... How are you sharing content with your clients?
The datasets will be for different organizations. Right now we have 2 clients on the same server that want to use Power BI. They each have their own PBI accounts within their own organization.
So Client 1 has access to databases A and B
Client 2 has access to databases C and D
Can Client 1 and 2 use the same gateway to refresh their data even though they are not in the same orgnaization and are accessing different databases?
