Our company has been working to put together a dashboarding and reporting solutions over past couple of months and everything was going great until about two weeks ago when the automatic refresh thru the Enterprise Gateway stopped working. It appears that the new licensing model for Power BI Premium will not allow source data larger than 10 gigs.
We currenlty only plan to have about 50 Pro users using the reports, any suggestions from the group on how to get around this limit without having to pay over 60K for something that worked last week?
Hi @pauln150,
What's the error message of this issue?
Best Regards!
Dale
The error is "The received uncompressed data on the gateway client has exceeded limit." My research shows that the new Premium license now only allows the source data to be 10G, even if the compression is going to make it smaller than the 1 Gig limit.
Hi @pauln150,
I have tried to find out some official answers and I found it here: powerbi-gateway-onprem-tshoot. And there are some suggestions.
The exact limitation is 10 GB of uncompressed data per table. If you are hitting this issue, there are good options to optimize and avoid the issue. In particular, reducing the use of highly repetitive, long string values and instead using a normalized key or removing the column (if not in use) will help.
Maybe you'd better put some of the data in the cloud service, like Azure, if possible.
Best Regards!
