Dashboard -redirects to Report

Hi,

I realise that after the dashboards i have creayed and shared via power bi service, when clicked on the top white space of the page will re-direct you to the reports. How can one disable this option? I do not want other viewers to click on the dashboard and go to a report page they can edit.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous,

To disable the redirection, You should follow below steps.
it will not exactly disable the redirection.but it will help for your issue.

Steps:

1.Use External Link and add dashboard page link.
2.Add '#' after link.

3.Use same tab to redirect.

@Anonymous The only way I am able to replicate what you are talking about is when I pin the live page. If you do this, you can't modify the behavior of the dashboard element, it will always take you to the report page. You can pin the individual visuals as tiles to the dashboard and use the custom URL property on the tile to redirect to the dashboard page so it looks like it doesn't go anywhere.

hi @Seth_C_Bauer

yes that is correct.. it is from a live page. But if i share the dashboard and even if the user clicks and it goes to the report - they should not be allowed to edit the report right? Only the export option from each tile should appear. Is my understanding correct. im assuming that as the owner of the dashboard, no one else should be allowed to modify the report.

Hi @Anonymous,

Genenrally, when you share with people outside your organization, they get an email with a link to the shared dashboard. And they can't edit any content in this dashboard or report. They can interact with the charts in the report (cross-highlight) and change any filters/slicers available on the reports connected to the dashboard.

@Anonymous You are correct, no one should be able to modify the report. They can interact with slicers and filters, but they can't change anything.
