Automatic update of an Excel workbook element pinned to a Power BI dashboard

Hi,

by the Power BI component for Excel it is possible to pin an Excel workbook element to a Power BI dashboard.

Well, I'd like to know if it is possible to update in an automatic manner the pinned Excel element when

a data change occurs for the underlying data model.

Thanks

Are you using the function mentioned in this document? If yes, please click the three dots besides the report to see if there is “Schedule Refresh” option as below. If you enable schedule refresh, the tile in dashboard should also be able to refresh automatically.

Hi @v-haibl-msft and @Anonymous,

no we are using the Analyze in Excel function to use a unique Semantic Model (the one developed in Power BI) to build Power BI and Excel Reports (Power BI doesn't have a Pivot Table visual at the moment) and we would like to pin the Pivot Table to the unique dashboard we are building. For this we would like to use Power BI Publisher for Excel but we need to assure us that the pinnet Pivot will be refreshed periodically. It seems that Power BI Publisher for Excel provides only a manual user update of pinned Pivot.

Can you confirm?

Thanks!

Hi odraode83,

I've created this issue because that it seems possible only update manually the pinned pivot inside Power BI Publisher.

Thanks

Hi Herbert, have you understand that the issue that I've posted is different from your scenario?

Thanks

@odraode83

According to https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-refresh-data/, refresh automatically is not supported.

Thanks, @v-haibl-msft but we are not using Power Pivot... we use the new "Analyze in Excel" functionality (an automatically generated .odc connection from excel to the semantic model in powerbi service).

Do you think this scenario is the same or we can try something?

Thanks!
