I've found a few posts on this error, but they all seem to pertain to the desktop. The error I'm picking up however is coming from the service after publishing my dataset...
I'm running 64-bit everything on my desktop, (Access & PBI Desktop) - I connected to sharepoint folder from PBI Desktop, drilled down into the excel binary and did a fair amount of transformation before publishing to my premium workspace.
Once published, I schedule refresh by providing SharePoint credentials on the dataset settings.
When it refreshes, I get this error:
Data source type: | |
Processing error: | Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. This is running through SharePoint Online, not personal gateway or similar, so it's connecting directly. Why would it pop up a message about anything related to local machine?

Regards,
Thanks, this solves the problem - I'm receiving an xls file which is being saved to sharepoint by Flow.
I've opened the file in Excel and saved as XLSX, also updated the data source in the PBI desktop and republished.
Now the refresh seems to work - my next problem will be trying to figure out how to programatically convert a .xls to a .xlsx!
Still find it odd that PBI desktop is happy with the XLS?
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated
Kind regards,
R
Hi All,
I have the same problem although my excel files are .xlsx not xls and the excel files are in a sharepoint folder. I have been able to refresh the report both on desktop and powerbi service but now I can't refresh from powerbi desktop and powerbi service. It keeps throwing this error

Any tips? Thanks in advance
