I´m curious if anyone can share experience of getting at Hyperion/Essbase data in the abscense of a connector? The two options I can think of right now are: Excel with the SmartView Add-in -> Power BI (not great, but doable) or ODBC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

We don't have plans for a solution template on top of Essbase. The purpose of solution templates is to create an end-to-end solution on a popular application like Dynamics 365 or Salesforce. Essbase is an OLAP server that Oracle uses to host some of their products. So it's not a natural fit.

This tutorial covers creating a free-from grid in Smart View by using an Hyperion Essbase data source. Get the resource link here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/smart-view-for-office/tutorials/sv11-084338.html

I posted the Power Query Excel workbook workaround a couple of years ago. We've now created a full-fledged, supported Power BI to Essbase connector: https://casabasesoftware.com/introducing-the-power-bi-casabase-connector-for-oracle-essbase/

P.S. I heard from a Microsoft source yesterday that an official Essbase data connector is on their release radar within the next 6 months. Unless they've already started, I think that's an unrealistic timeline. A couple of years is more likely.
