Cards with background color change to white when pinned to dashboard

I created cards on my desktop page with various colored backgrounds.  When I pin the card to the dashboard, it changes the background color to white.  I have a dashboard that displays seven cards, and they all display white and the dashboard looks terrible.  My user is getting upset.

Is this a bug?  Something slated to be fixed, and if so, when?

Are there alternative visuals I can use successfully?  I've tried several in the store and they mostly behave the same way. KPI Indicator does retain the color, but I'm having a separate issue with that visual where it displays "(Blank)" even though there is a value to display.
