Hello,   I'm using the title section of the chart with a background color, but I notice that depending on the chart the title area height is different   and all the spacing options are only for the space *below* the title, so there's no way to make the right chart title (funnel chart) look like left chart title (bar chart)       they are configured exactly the same           is this something that will eventually be fixed?     regards,   Bernat ... D drive is empty in Model Data in Power BI desktop Lab

Hello! I was about to start to work on my model data in power BI lab but there's a task to open an already existing file in the D drive but whenever I open the drive there's nothing there. Empty SharePoint list causes Power BI data refresh to fail

When an empty SharePoint list is used as a data source, it fails with the message Expression.Error: The column 'ID' of the table wasn't found. Details: ID   This issue seems tied to the age of the SharePoint list. I created a new list by copying an existing list and it fails on the navigation step (when you choose the table). I get the error immediately when I select the list name.         However, when I create a new blank SharePoint list, I don't have the problem. If someone could please let me know how we could change the old list to make it work, that would be wonderful. Python Script Error in PBI

I am setting up a python script in Power BI (Pro). So my route is Get Data > Python > Paste in my script. The HTTP 401 Unauthorized client error status response code indicates that the request has not been applied because it lacks valid authentication credentials for the target resource.

If your request returns a 401, then redo your authentication and try again. Ensure that the necessary permissions are granted for your app. If you’re trying to access the PowerBI resource, you might need to check PowerBI service permission.

If you’re getting a 401 error, it means that there’s no permission to access the resource. You can use JWT.io to decode the token and check the audience and permissions.

If you have a permission checked that says “Requires Admin”, then you need an admin to click "Grant Permissions".

Switching Power BI datasets with Project File (.pbip)

When saving a Power BI report (.pbix) as a project file (.pbip), Power BI desktop no longer allows for switching the data source if connected to a power bi dataset (the message "A DirectQuery connection is required" is displayed).   As an example, if I am working on a report in Power BI desktop that connects to a power bi datatset in the power bi service and then save that pbix file as a pbip file, I can no longer change the data source to a different power bi dataset. Pbix files allow the user to switch the Power BI dataset to which the report is connected, .pbib files do not. This functionality is needed when creating a report against a development dataset and then being able to switch the connection to the production version.     Thanks,   Eric ... View more

I did a simple test but it didn't reproduce your problem.
What browser are you currently using? I've tested with Edge and Google Chrome separately and it works fine!

Have you tried adjusting the page resolution?

429 generating embed codes

On the hour, every hour for 5 minutes every reuest to power bi is hanging for 1-2mins and returning a 429  (too many requests) e.g 10:00am to 10:05am   We aren't sure why this has just started happening (a few days ago).   This seems to be happening across capacities, which is very strange. It's hard to imagine we are going over, as the amount of requests we seem to be making seems resonable to me.   Is there an Current issue in PowerBi? Has anything changed?   If we are making to many requests how can we find out what the limits are? Can we find out what type of request is going to high? Can we increase our limit?         ... Power Automate scheduled refresh for dataset on Premium Workspace not refreshing

Hello,    I have created a Power Report which connects to a MySQL datasource by using a SQL Query to fetch specific columns within my database. This report and its dataset live on a premium workspace within my company's intranet, previously I went and manually refresh the dataset to the report since it is suppose to have a daily refresh, to automate this action I recure to the Power Automate cloud workflows, which have built-in interactions with Power BI and set a recurrence workflow to: refresh the dataset from the workspace at an specific time per CST, run a query against it to generate a csv table and store it on a public sharepoint folder. Once I manually test the workflow it succeeds and allows me to apply it accordingly, however when it runs on the scheduled timeframe I can see that is retrieving an error message on credentials:  Even upon manual refresh, when I go to the published report on the workspace and update the visuals it obtains the last dataset obtained prior to the failed refresh.  There is a similar thread already around the refresh failure on scheduled recurrences: Error on scheduled refresh; Dynamic 365 was used to gather all datasets per the idea's-owner inputs, so the suggested solution for the thread will not solve my issue since the datasource values at the advanced editor are defined as next:        let Source = MySQL.Database("mysql-string.domain.com", "DB_MySQL", [ReturnSingleDatabase=true, Query="SELECT (...)") in Source       I have check the connection credentials to the MySQL database and everything is working if no scheduled refresh is implemented, thus I'm able to manually refresh the dataset and reload the visuals.    What could be possibly the problem for the schedule to not authenticate the credentials? ... Hi,    may I please use inactive replathoships in setting up the DLRS within a role?   I am using singer user connection of USER role (via USERPRINCIPALNAME()) and second role for the dataset is MANAGER role where I use DAX to get in a logic based on hierarchical path, that the manager will see all her/his team).  The problem is in there are multipe connections to the team within fact table.   thanks for advice/support ... Default date range for date slicer

Power BI really needs to have a default range for date slicers. It is almost impossible to achieve this in the current settings. For example, it would be beneficial to create a slicer, add dates from a calendar whether it be sales dates, created dates etc, then be able to set a default date range (eg Jan 1st - April 1st). Once the default date range is set, then users are still able to filter the date range (eg Jan 1st - Dec 31st). ... View more

Power BI generates ERROR after running R Script

I'm getting an error when I try to "Run R script". I'm using R 4.3.1 and I have R Studio installed.   I've uninstalled and installed the software a few times, and I've looked into the Options settings and even the program files for the R software. But, I still get errors no matter what I do. Looking at the error it seems that access to Rscript is denied, is it possible that access to the folder is restricted? Have you used R script on Desktop before?

Hyperlink not opening upon click within web portal that leverages Power BI embedded

I'm having an issue getting a table hyperlink to open a new window upon clicking it. When I create a hyperlink in a table visual and apply the Web URL data category setting, I'm able to click the hyperlink and open a new browser tab through Desktop as well as through PBI Service. However, when I navigate to our custom web portal that leverages Power BI embedded and I click the hyperlink, nothing happens where no new winow tab is opened. The only thing I can do is right-click on the hyperlink and select "Open link in new tab". I would expect I can click on the hyperlink without issue. Is this a bug? ... View more

I created a report with URL and publish to Service . Then I embedded the report to website , I copied the report link and then opened it in my broswer . I clicked the URL in embed report and it can be opened directly .

You must have Build permission to the Power BI dataset or have at least a Contributor role in the Power BI workspace .  You also need to fulfill the following prerequisites .

In the official documentation for RLS it says:   Within the Power BI service, username() and userprincipalname() will both return the user's User Principal Name (UPN). This looks similar to an email address.   This does not seem to be the case. In service both username() and userprincipalname() seem to return a user's email address, rather than their User Principal Name. There are a couple of other oddities/bugs. The Preview a report as a role/specific person in the Security section of a dataset in Power Bi Service interprets UPN in the desktop manner as compared to what Power Bi Service will actually show a user (email address). A smaller point is that Power Bi service shows the UPN to be different things in different areas. When reviewing the list of users with access to a workspace hovering over the information icon of a user shows the UPN to be their email address. If you view the UPN of the same user in the RLS Preview section of a report the UPN it is shown as their actual UPN. ... View more

In Power BI Desktop, will return and will return username()domain/usernameuserprincipalname()username@domain.com.
However, in Power BI Service, both and will return username()userprincipalname()username@domain.com. This is similar to an email format.
It’s also noted that in Import mode, both and return the user’s User Principal Name (UPN), which is similar to an email address. username()userprincipalname()In Direct Query mode, returns a user in the format of and returns a user in the format of username()DOMAIN\\Useruserprincipalname()user@contoso.com.
The discrepancies you’re seeing in different areas of Power BI Service might be due to how these functions interpret the UPN in different contexts. It seems like there might be some inconsistencies in how Power BI Service displays the UPN. It‘s by design.
