Hello After the March 2024 update a Circular Dependency Detected error began to appear in a relationship that seemed to be fine since forever. In fact, the Fabric Service does not issue this error. What's worse, any changes I try to make to the dataset regardless of where the changes are made; this error pops up and completely ignores applying the changes I want to make. Is there a "bug" in the latest Desktop update? Why did this error not exist prior to this? I need help, I can't seem to shake off this issue and I have several updates I need to make to this dataset which cannot be made in the Fabric service.

I’ve created an account specifically to address an issue that, to my knowledge, has not yet been reported. The 2024 versions of Power BI Desktop have introduced a significant annoyance when working in Table View. My primary concern is the inability to horizontally scroll through columns using arrow keys once a DAX Calculated column is selected. Instead of scrolling, the interface randomly selects and enters the DAX formula bar, preventing further horizontal navigation. This issue also occurs when selecting a DAX Calculated column directly with the cursor, I also have some issues with the message errors telling me there is a duplicate column and the copying of a column Dax code in another Calculated column. Due to these problems, I’ve reverted to the latest 2023 version of Power BI Desktop, where this issue is absent. The ability to smoothly scroll through columns is crucial for verifying the correctness of DAX code in tables with numerous columns. Unfortunately, the 2024 versions have made it impossible to work efficiently due to this and other issues. I’m hoping there might be an overlooked option to restore the traditional arrow key scrolling functionality. If not, I hope the development team addresses this bug and reinstate the previous, user-friendly behavior. Thanks.

I'd like to report an issue or bug I'm having with Power BI Desktop. For about a month now, calculated columns come back with the error "there is already a column with the name xzy". That was not actually the case, but I thought nothing of it because I could continue working. Today though, a column formula moved or 'jumped' to another calculated column, replacing its formula. This is on a calculated table. Then, when selecting another calculated table, the formula moved / jumped to that table. I'm needing to close without saving, which is frustrating. Following update to "Version: 2.126.927.0 64-bit (February 2024)" we're seeing reports with direct query connections to Snowflake tables / views triggering "We couldn't fold the expression to the datasource" errors where they used to work fine last week. We've not managed to isolate the precise feature that's causing the problem but here are some of the things that the report uses: query parameters to perform simple filters on table contents in M code DAX measures calculating networking days on a milestone table A bar chart visual which combines task lengths with analytics constant lines using the DAX measures from 2 above A "is not empty" filter on one table that propogates to a few other tables We've not manage to reproduce the issue in a standalone PBIX file (to share for debug). We've not been able to find an installer for the previous version to allow us to continue maintaining this report whilst we resolve this issue (see here: https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/What-was-last-week-s-PBI-Desktop-update-about/m-p/3710454#M1208608). We've not managed to find release notes for what this update was intending to do (to figure out if the issue is on our side). We're effectively blocked by a bad upgrade as far as we can see. Any ideas how to progress this one?

It seems that the authentication method 'service principal' does not work for the SharePoint datasource in Power BI service -> dataset -> settings - edit credentials. By reading some documentation it seems that the only way to get data from the SharePoint API is via client certificates, maybe why it does not work (anymore) for client secrets. I presume this uses the SharePoint resource 'https://microsoft.sharepoint.com' and not the Graph resource 'https://graph.microsoft.com/' under the hood. Kind regards

I have report which uses a composite data model, with a mix between DirectQuery to other Power BI datasets and some imported tables from SQL Server. The model also uses calculation groups, allthough I do not think this is related to the issue. The data model also has RLS, and I can test this in desktop and it works as intended. However, when I publish the report to the service and I want to "test as role", I get the following error message. Is this a bug, or is "test as role" really not supported for a composite model?

Getting the error below, even when refreshing one dataflow at a time. There was a problem refreshing your dataflow. RootActivityId: 394090f0-0dd4-44ad-9ac8-76aeff5192d8 ErrorMessage:Refresh has failed unexpectedly. This indicates in most cases an out of memory issue in your capacity. Please check the capacity configuration metrics and try again.

In the latest version (Version: 2.114.664.0 64-bit (February 2023)), all display boxes in PBI desktop aren't displaying correctly. Is this happening to other users? I can find an area to post to Microsoft. Some examples attached.

After pressing Alt+Enter to add a new row when coding a DAX measure, the shortcuts such as 'H' for Home, 'JT' for Table Tools, etc are remaining active. When I press Alt+Enter in other programs such as Excel, it picks up that I was using the Alt key as part of inserting a new line and therefore doesn't show the shortcuts/expects the next keystroke to be a shortcut. Within Power BI, it is waiting for the next keystroke to be a shortcut - and therefore keeps putting me out of my flow with writing DAX as I need to click back into the formula bar so that I can continue typing. This is incredibly frustrating and needs to be resolved ASAP.

Hi Team, When user opens a Power BI file and then clicks on Transform Data, she can from here manipulate her tables and data and other tasks - In this case, it will act like it is opening the file when she clicks on transform data, but it does nothing - Issue just began today. Has been fine before - Issue is happening with multiple files, all that we have tested - No coworker is having this issue I updated my Power BI Desktop this morning to the latest version (screenshot below). Using VPN i am connecting organisational applications. All my dashboards link out to Dataflows. This is one of the files that I am having the issue with. I have tried multiple files and none of them am I able to get to the Transform Data section. The window appears however I can’t select it and it is blank. I have uninstalled PBI Desktop, restarted my laptop, installed PBI Desktop again, and restarted my laptop a 2nd time. I am still not able to get to the Power Query Window even though it looks as if it is opened. Thanks in advance!

yesterday and today im experience Dataflow refresh very slow, it takes already a couple of minutes, normaly it takes a ferw secounds. is there any outage today ?? loading the table in Dataflow is also very slow, it takes 1,5 minutes

We are wanting to use direct query for our datasets so we are not limited to how often we can refresh an imported dataset. We are running into an issue of with datetime fields coming from Starburst. Power BI doesn't support timestamp(9) as a date field and we are unable to convert the field data type due to the limitation of direct query. Are there any date formats from Starburst that Power BI supports? We haven't found any.

Please advise specific instructions on how it is possible for data from an on-premises SQL server database to be fed into a Lakehouse. When using Gen2 dataflow to connect to on-premises SQL server via a gateway (client using Power BI Premium), configuring a Lakehouse as the data destination does not work: If I use a Gen1 dataflow to connect to the on-premises SQL server, and then reference the result of this dataflow using a Gen2 dataflow, interface (most of the time) allows for the Lakehouse to be assigned as the data destination, but then the Gen2 dataflow fails to refresh and gives the following error: When above dataflow is referenced in a pipeline, the associated run fails and below error message is received: Trying to connect to the on-premises SQL Server database via a pipeline does not appear to be an option as the only available connection method is "Basic" and there is no option to select the gateway.

Hello! My Team and I are experiencing a huge authentication issue. Each time we attempt to refresh queries in PowerBI and in Excel, we receive a prompt to authenticate our credentials by signing in. Of course, we are already signed in and have done a variety of things to attempt to solve including uninstalling, clearing cache, trying to use different paths - NOTHING is working. Is anyone experiencing this and/or does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance!

Hi Power bi users, I am facing issue with Apply all slicers button, I have 10 + slicers in my report among those few are hierarchical data(Lets take as country and state).there will be no interaction between the visuals until unless we click on Apply all slicers button. My requirment is I need iteraction with only slicers not other visuals . If I filter country slicer ,all other country states also showing in the state slicer which is not good for end user. After making country slicer selection and clicking Apply All Slicer button only the state slicer is filtering . It is not good to click Apply All Slicer button everytime of the selection of Country slicer right. please let me know if any possible way is there...

Hi, I built a Datamart on top of Dataflow (Source = PowerPlatform.Dataflows([])). When I add a column to the Dataflow, Publish and refresh it, nothing changes into the Datamart nor the default Dataset of the Datamart ! The added column is not in the Datamart. To see the update in the Datamart and its default Dataset, I had to open Power Query of the Datamart and refresh all the Applied steps one by one (Query settings) and Save it. My new added column is now in the default dataset. Is this a normal behavior?

Hello Everyone We are evaluating fabric, and need to know the upper memory size usable per fabric capacity size? I am not able to find this info anywhere online? Furthermore, is it possible to read data from Fabric using the Azure Analysis Services? (As an alternative architectural solution?) We really need this info fast in order to guestimate future fabric cost! When using an F16, we reach the limit at 1.8 gigabyte. This is very small for us. br David
