Hi @powerbi_jenhen ,

To my knowledge the Power BI REST API does not support the deployment of dataflows with a service principal. This limitation might be the reason you’re encountering the“ALM_InvalidRequest_ServicePrincipalNotSupported” error.

Hi  @roger1722 ,

The following scenarios don't support opening the data model for a dataset in the service:

  • Datasets that have incremental refresh.
  • Datasets that have been deployed by a deployment pipeline.
  • Datasets modified by an XMLA endpoint.
  • Datasets that haven't yet been upgraded to enhanced metadata format. You can upgrade to enhanced metadata format by opening the corresponding pbix in Desktop and republishing.
  • Datasets that have automatic aggregations configured.
  • Datasets that have a live connection.
  • Not all datasets in Pro workspaces are currently supported in UAE North.

To see which limitation is preventing you from opening your data model, hover over the Open data model button in the dataset details page. This displays a tooltip indicating which limitation is causing the Open data model button to be disabled.

Hi @ViralPatel212 ,

Thanks for your feedback!

If you would like to suggest feature improvements, you may vote the idea and comment here to improve this feature. It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

Hi @FMMagallanes ,

Based on the error code you‘ve provided,it usually occurs when there are old calculated columns that have been broken, even if they are not used anywhere else and are not used on the report.

Please check your report for any old calculated columns that may be broken. If you find any, remove them from your report. After removing these columns, re-publish your report to the service for a test.

Hi @BarimMaqsood ,

I do understand your concern, but this feature is still in the preview stage and is not fully available on Power BI Service.Only available to design in Desktop, but can be uploaded to Service. The PG team is still working on optimizing it.

Thanks for your kind feedback.

Hi @andrewpirie ,

This might not be an issue. Due to functionality limitations, only pbix files can be uploaded here so it won't show .pbip extension.

Please refer to the following highlighted limitation from Power BI Desktop OneDrive and SharePoint integration - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.

Hi @SzymonK ,

Product Group informs they are aware this new limit is affecting users and their actual implementations, for this reason they share this workaround in the meantime a solution is applied about the new throttling limit:

“While we work on refining the throttling limits for the GetDatasourcesAsAdmin API, we understand the importance of providing viable alternatives for our users. As a temporary workaround, we recommend leveraging our scanner APIs to access all data source information for your tenant. The scanner APIs offer a robust solution for retrieving datasets and related data source information.

Hi @FlavioMeneses ,

We got the feedback from PG team:

Since there are too many relationships close to each other, the svgs for the relationship-lines overlap with each other and on clicking on them, it could lead to a wrong relationship being selected. This behavior is by design.

There are alternatives to clicking on relationship-lines to select the relationship - such as using the Manage Relationship dialog to edit/create relationship or using Keyboard navigation to cycle through the relationships.

Hi @michaelu1 ,

The color of the hyperlink icon is designed in blue by default, it is recommended that you change the theme to another color.

I can understand your concern about this issue, and the Power BI product has been gradually making changes, except that the issue you mentioned is not supported by design for the time being.
