Dynamic M query filtering doesn't work in analyze in excel option. I tried the filter fields in the filter area of the MS Excel pivot table but it doesn't trigger query with the selected value but instead it takes parameter's default value. Since this is in preview, it would be great if you could fix it before GA.

I was asked to re-post this into this specific forum: We are struggling with intermittent refresh failures. These failures occur across two different On-Premise Data gateway servers that we have. We have scheduled refreshes running all the time, against many different data sources (SQL DBs, Oracle DBs, ODBC connects etc) many times they work and other times they simply fail with this error message. It does not seem to matter which data source or which Gateway, we continue see intermittent failures of this type. Refreshes from Power-BI desktop do not have refresh issues. We have logging enabled on both Gateways but thus far, have not really found anything useful in helping identify the issue. We are using HTTPS mode on both Gateways Failure can happen both with schedule refresh and using the "refresh now" button Has anyone else run into issues like this? Users with access to a Power BI app are unable to view a report from that app when it is embedded in a Sharepoint site. If users are admins, members, contributors or viewers of the app's workspace in Power BI, they are able to see it. But even if they have permission to view the app and the link used to embed the report is the app's link (not the link to the report in the workspace), they are unable to view it. The embed frame presents the "It looks like you don't have access to this report" page. Note that these users can see the report in Power BI, and I can link directly to the report (the app version) from Sharepoint, and all users with permissions to the app can see the report. It's just when it is embedded with the Sharepoint Power BI widget that certain users are unable to see the report embedded in the Sharepoint site.

Since the weekend the dark theme on dashboards changes the text colour of measure to a dark grey, not white, so its almost impossible to see it. This card has the value 49,128 but because of the font colour, you really have to look hard

We have a Dashboard consisting of 4 pinned cards and 2 pinned Bar Charts. We are pushing data updates through a console application that uses API connections every 1 minute. When the update occurs, we see all visuals temporarily go blank (we are deleting and replacing the entire dataset, as appending will not account for existing rows being edited. We also have logic to show a text string in the cards if the aggregation would be blank). After a few second, the 4 card visuals update to the latest values, however the Bar Charts stay blank. We've tried all the different Bar Chart visuals, and each one remains blank after a data push. Column Charts do not seem to be affected by this issue, and act the same as the cards. The Bar Charts have a few filters specific to each chart, to show only one value of a few categorical fields we use. Removing all filters from the chart visuals did not solve the issue.

With the Feb 2023 update, making changes to measures seems to often result in the 'Working on it' message that never ends. The only way to get out of it is to is kill all Power BI processes thru task manager, which is not ideal.

Whilst a patch for the bookmark navigator is now available in the Feb 2022 (v2.102) release of Power BI Desktop, the bookmark navigator feature still does not support effective usage of multiple bookmark groups. The Feb 2022 patch now ensures that the bookmark navigator (for a particular group of bookmarks) is completely deselected when another bookmark (outside of that group of bookmarks) is selected. This (whilst an improvement compared to the Dec 2021 release) is still a issue that does not effectively support multiple bookmark groups. An acceptable solution is to have the bookmark navigator persistently showing the last selected bookmark (from the bookmark group the navigator is referring to) until another bookmark within that bookmark group is selected. This should persist for any number of other bookmarks (outside of the bookmark group the navigator is referring to) that are selected. Please acknowledge this remaining bug. I have a line and stacked column chart where I turned the secondary y-axis off, such that both values refer to the same y-axis on the left. Since I have set Start and End to "Auto", the y-axis should scale to the maximum value of the line and the bar values. In Power BI Desktop this totally works fine, but in Power BI Service the y-axis is only scaled to the maximum bar value. Because of this, the line disappears/is cropped in the top of the chart. Please fix this asap!

Hello, I have recently noticed that I could no longer update my Power BI datasets using the web client, neither by using the planned refresh nor the instant refresh As suggested in the error message, I went to the settings I clicked on "Edit credentials", which showed this screen : And after authenticating with any privacy level, I end up on the exact same screen as above Clicking cancel brings me back to the settings, the credentials issue is still there, and I cannot access scheduled refresh : I manage to load and refresh the data on the desktop client, so it does not look like an account issue The version of my desktop client is : 2.95.804.0 64-bit (july 2021), and I was able to recreate the issue with a new report I was able to recreate the issue using : Chrome, Firefox and Edge Several people in my organization have this issue, however a few others manage to do refresh with their credentials Could you please help us solve the problem? Have recently only began our evaluation of the new App Audience experience and were looking to leverage this feature to suppress reports for specific user groups (Active Directory) on the same workspace. The configuration of our testing App included only two audience views. The first included all reports on the workspace (1 Power BI and 1 Paginated Report) and was setup to permit access to the workspace users, which was limited to our development team, and our primary business contact (named user) was extended access through the app (so no access permission on the workspace). The second audience only included the paginated report, and was setup to include the workspace users and a user group which contained our primary business contact as well as all of the identified users. Our business contact had no issues accessing the app and its content, though member of our second audience encountered the 'Could not connect to the data source' error for the paginated report. Image of error notice embedded >> The dataset used was a composite model which leveraged a DirectQuery on an on-premise data source, a public accessible XML feed from a web service and a data table entered directly through Power Query. From our knowledge none of these source would hit Analysis Services. This dataset was used for the source of both the Power BI and paginated report. Adding the user group with Viewer access on the workspace resolved this error, but this scenario also exposes the full content of the workspace to the user group, is less than desirable, and would discourage our implementation of the Audience functionality for future reporting. Through our investigation it would appear that the audience configuration of the second view would periodically lose the permissions for the Active Directory user group used to secure the view. Suggestion would be to ensure that the App Audience functionality accepts and applies Active Directory user groups to secure views independent of the user group requiring access to the workspace.

Hi Everyone, I have a subscription for embedded capacity (app owns data) and ever since I had the Fabric Trial I can't choose my embedded capacity for new workspaces anymore. The menu changed, and the option for embedded capacity is always grayed out with a tiny i for info, that says I don't have access to the capacity, which is impossible as I am the owner and only person in my company, so if I don't have access, nobody does. Before I could also assign Embedded capacity via admin settings, but that doesn't take now. I changed one very important workspace to embedded yesterday via admin settings, and I still cannot access the report through my embedded app, while the reports in workspaces that I didn't change during trying Fabric still work perfectly. I really need urgent help for this as this report has to be live for my customer tomorrow. Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Sabrina

Just this morning, some reports that have been using DAX for date based filters suddenly cannot display the visual. These visuals do work in PBI Desktop. Once published to the serivce, they work for less than a minute. Below is an example of what happens when the visual has this filter: IsCurrentQuarter = IF(QUARTER(Date[Date]) = QUARTER(TODAY()) && YEAR(Date[Date])=YEAR(TODAY()),"Y","N" ) Was there an update to PBI Serice that is rendering date-based DAX filters unusable?

I am running into an issue when using direct query with Databricks SQL Warehouses using the Azure Databricks Connector. I have text fields with single quote characthers in the string that need to be rendered in the report. When filtering for a value with an apostraphe the query returns null. Looking at the query history in databricks it looks like the SQL query being generated is using a second single quote to escape the apostraphe, but this is not the escape charachter in Databricks SQL. Unless the string is prefixed with r, use \ to escape special characters (e.g. ' or \). If the string is prefixed with r there is no escape character. Yesterday, all my datasets were refreshing just fine but today nothing happens. - The automatic refresh hasn't done anything. - When I press "Refresh now", I get a "popup" saying "preparing refresh" for a split second and then nothing happens. The only way to update the data is to refresh the Desktop version and then upload it. I have datasets connection to an on-premises database and one connecting to a sharepoint site. - The on-premises connection usually works perfect, but now nothing happens. - The sharepoint connection usually brings up an error, if I try to refresh, but now nothing happens (I just tried it this time as a test, as it usually doesn't work automatically). Can you please help troublefinding - It seems like an issue on you online portal somehow. Thanks in advance. // Tommy

Hello, I have renamed a parameter that was bound to a column in a dimension, and now I cannot use the Properties pane on the Model tab unless I go back to Power Query and rename the parameter. This is for any column in any dimension, not just the column the parameter was bound to. I believe this is a bug with the UI. Mark

In previous versions of Power BI Desktop it was possible to add language specific captions and descriptions for tables and fields using the "cultures" part of the tabular model (e.g. the tmsl in the DataModelSchema file in templates (pbit)). With the March update, these translations are no longer used in the Fields pane, and the raw names are shown instead. By not having friendly names in the model it becomes difficult and confusing for users to navigate it. I hope either the March release has introduced another alternative for assigning friendly captions, or the translation feature will be reintroduced in the next release. Thanks, Niels Kühnel

Hi Team, We have been noticing that when we hit Refresh now on the dashbaords , it finishes fast like within 2 minutes vs a scheduled Refresh takes about 14 minutes . What is the difference between these as they should have more or less the same time
