I'm struggling to be able to work efficiently with Dataflows as I am experiencing excessive times to 'validate' queries after pressing the 'Save & Close' button. For entities with even a minimal amount of transformation (eg. simply changing some column data types) I've experienced wait times of over 3 hours to simply save the query to exit out back to the main entity menu/view. Should things be taking this long for an output schema validation process, regardless of the size of the underlying table data? Is this an issue being experienced by others as well? This is making it simply impossible for me to work with the Dataflows product in this way.   ... View more

Hello, since the new ribbon interface was rolled out, my Power BI Desktop Pro is completely unresponsive and keeps freezing. I cannot minimise, maximise, or move the window at all. The ribbon is completely unresponsive. Occassionally, it will randomly unfreeze, only to re-freeze. This is affecting all my reports. I cannot get any work done. This is an issue with PowerBI and not my system, I have the latest Core i7 with 32Gb of system memory on Windows 10. All my other apps are fine. Hello, Since last friday i'm with some issues in refresh my datasets. I can't open Power BI after June, 2020 update. I'm getting "We weren't able to connect to the model." error when I'm trying top open updated Power BI Desktop. I do have a number of reports at the powerbi service that is based on import of data into the service. The data was updated according to schedule but when running the report, then nothing happens. It stops loading and shows a screen saying "Almost done". I do also have reports running on directs query mode and they work fine. ... View more

All the relationship lines are missing from the model view.  All graphical manipulation of the model fails.  Adding new tables/datasources fail.  A new version needs to be released immediately.  It appears that version 2.119.666.0 doesn't have that problem.  These versions are so new that they're not even documented on the Microsoft site.  😞   ... Hi Everyone   Is anyone experiencing slow dataflow refreshes? Since this morning, I have a dataflow that is taking very long to refresh. I haven't edited the dataflow for at least a month and it has been working fine up to now.   A simple text-inputed table (4 rows, 2 columns) took 15 minutes to update. Another similar table took 27 minutes to update. Both of these tables are not linked to an external data source and should usually take 30s to refresh. I cancelled the refresh after about 2h30. The dataflow was not even half-way through a refresh that normally takes 20 minutes.   I aborted the second attempt at refreshing the dataflow after about an hour and the first table (text-inputed, 3 rows, 2 columns) had not yet refreshed. ... Power BI Dataflows have been systematically failing in the last 24 hours "because there was a problem with one or more entities, or because dataflow capabilities were unavailable". No matter if the dataflow queries our on-premises server or or a simple Excel file on SharePoint, it just fails. They have been running for a few months with no problem, beside isolated and temporary failures to refresh. It seems that all dataflows are “pending validation”. When I open an entity and attempt to save it, it can’t save the entity/dataflow after the validation step fails. Herebelow is the error message that does not tell me much about the issue. We have got a few organisational reports connected to these dataflows and users need daily refreshes. Hi to all,   Just got the February 2020 version (Microsoft Store app) and got the error Unable to open document - We weren't able to restore the saved database to the model.   Been looking around the community and options go from unninstalling and then reinstalling, did that but still same issue.   Tried to install the February version standalone however the version available online for download is the December version (although says the upload was made in February 18th) everything works normally but it's not comparable.   Also read that for some previous versions were this happened there was a new install version that solved the issue.   Thanks for the attention. Hi! Since September 2021 Update, when refreshing data using Power BI Desktop connected to Azure SQL Server, it goes like: Evaluating - OK Waiting for other queries - OK Creating connection in model ... (Stays here until all data is loaded) I have more than 100 Power BI files in my organization, all of the connected to Azure, so it is not a specific file that has this behaviour. Every file I try is the same. At first I thought it was stuck there, but If the file is big, lets say 4 Million rows, it takes sometime and eventually loads the data. But it doesn't show the amount of rows being downloaded anymore. And believe me, this is my daily routine, importing, updating and building reports. This is misleading because you can't differentiate if the process is stuck or going all right anymore. You just have to have faith that is working, but when it takes too long it is complicated to be waiting without knowing that it is going to load correctly.
