Have you previously edited description inside the properties of an external page, and what is the version of your Service? You can change the description in dataflow's detail page .

Datamarts - Create new measure and Model View is not working

Greetings,   At the moment, the Datamart artifact is not running as it should. At least in the West Europe (Netherlands) region. Datamart UI is not showing the field for editing measures and is not responding to the "Create new measure" button. There is a similar problem in the model section, where the current model is not displayed; therefore, neither is the relationship between the tables, and no table can be added to the "new" page. ... Issue with Power BI Desktop deduplication on changing datasource (direct query to Power BI Dataset)

Hi everyone,    I am currently facing an issue with Power BI. I have a direct query to AS connection in Power BI (connected to a Power BI dataset in direct query). For testing purposes I have connected to an excel file.     The bug with the deduplication happens for the table PBI_Measures which comes from the source. I added two testing Measures to the table. Both measures simply say 123 or 456 in their definition.   When I switch the connection to different Power BI dataset (with the same structure, just different data) the table is duplicated with the suffix I provided. If I do not provide a suffix for duplicated tables it displays the table as PBI_Measures 2.   When I revert the connection back to the original dataset the duplicated table vanish which is what I expect.  When I move both measures to a different table, the PBI_Measures table does not get duplicated. However, the table I moved these measures to (vDIM_Account) is not duplicated after changing the source again.   All tables in the datamodel behave in one of these two ways without any regularity I can find. Some tables get duplicated, others do not. The same issue occurs when working with calculated columns instead of measures.   It might have something to do with Power BI thinking it has duplicate tables while switching the datasource leading to some tables getting flagged as a duplicate even though I only change the source, not add another one. You mentioned that "When I revert the connection back to the original dataset the duplicated table vanish which is what I expect. " , can you explain it in detail ?

You created measures in table PBI_Measures and then switch the connection to different Power BI dataset , then reconnect to the original dataset,right ?

You also mentioned that "When I move both measures to a different table, the PBI_Measures table does not get duplicated." ,what is the outcome you want to achieve? As you said above, you want it to vanish. Now wouldn't MEASURE not have a duplicate value be exactly what you expect?

I'm a bit confused and look forward to your reply!

Dynamic Format String not formatting all numbers in column charts

Not sure if this is an issue others have experienced, but the dynamic format string is giving me problems in a very specific case. This seems to only be happening in a column/bar chart, when I have Total labels enabled, and a column in the "Legend" section.   See below:   I can share a PBIX file if necessary, but I will need a bit of time to remove any identifiable references (the actual data set itself has already been masked). Memory leak when using PQ advanced editor

I can reliably leak gigabytes of memory per minute when editing M code in the advanced editor, leading to performance degradation of UI interactions and eventually process crashes with out-of-memory errors.   The pbix file I am using is available at https://www.antifound.com/assets/aoc2022.pbix. The data is all from Advent of Code 2022 and is therefore not sensitive.   Reproduction steps: Open the pbix Open the PQ window Select any existing query Open the advanced editor Begin adding query steps and editing the code (specifically code and not comments), making sure to leave enough time to get completion pop-ups Close the advanced editor Close the Power Query window, but do not close Power BI Desktop (applying the new changes does not make a difference) Repeat from step 2   By following these steps, I can reliable get my PBI Desktop process up to 10GB of RAM (out of 16GB on the VM) consumed, at which point it becomes unstable and nonresponsive, either crashing with a webview2 memory error or hanging until I kill it through task manager.   Note, that you must have intellisense enabled (the default), and you must interact with intellisense completions while editing code in the advanced editor. Users with Multiple Roles Error

We are experiencing the same issue as reported here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Users-with-multiple-security-roles-suddenly-can-t-see-data/m-p/2251588#M819234   The Power BI service is throwing an "SecurityFilteringBehavior=Both" error on all visuals for RLS users linked to multiple roles. There are no bidirectional security filters present, after checking in Tabular Editor and the relation editor in Powr BI. It happens on all datasets that have the same users in different roles in RLS. Those assigned a single roles experience no issues.   For us this behavior is new and has worked until a week or so ago. May I know whether the tables in your report coming from two or more separate data sources? If so, what kind of connect mode did you used to connect to these data source? Import or Direct Query? I found a similar issue reported internally but I need to confirm whether these two issues are completely same.

Parquet connector error after November22 Update

Hello, Hi,   We have some PowerBIs that use Parquet files as a data source. Prior to the November22 update, the files were opening just fine. But after installing the update, I get the following error.   Unexpected error: Could not load file or assembly 'ParquetSharp, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies.   I've searched on Google and the Community here, but found nothing. What is wrong with this update? Do I need to install any extra package?   However, if I uninstall the November22 binaries and go back to October22, the parquet connector works again. ... View more

Refresh Dataflows REST API processType parameter not working

Hello,    There is an unexpected behaviour when using a URI parameter when using the Dataflows - Refresh Dataflow REST API: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/dataflows/refresh-dataflow#uri-parameters   Specifically, when I add the URI parameter "processType" = "processFull", it does not trigger a full refresh, and still applies the incremental refresh policy.   This is based on the definition of "processType" listed in Microsoft's GitHub here:  Merged PR 113595: Add Transactions, Update Dataflow, processType to r… · microsoft/PowerBI-CSharp@6b737c2 · GitHub   There is another related ticket below, however, the response from v-deddai1-msft did not answer the question fully. i.e. how can you bypass the dataflow incremental refresh policy using the "processType" URI parameter. The response from v-deddai1-msft was to manually turn off incremental refresh in the GUI which is time consuming. Dataflow import requires AllowNativeQueries attribute to be false

When using the new import feature you can only import a dataflow model that has the AllowNativeQueries attribute as FALSE. There should be the capability to either: import dataflow model JSONS where this attribute is TRUE modify dataflow JSON and republish without having to go through the standard edit screen which can take FOREVER for it to load a preview of data and validate the model.   My big beef with dataflows is that often times I'm making a small modification to the SQL associated with one entity (i.e. adjustment to the WHERE clause that has no impact on columns returned). With big entities it can take forever to make these updates as 7 out of 8 times the query validation will timeout after 10 min.   I know this is less business ETL oriented but I'd love to be able to modify the JSON, i.e. SQL query and columns, etc. without going through the slow validation process. I was hoping to be able to export JSON models, make minor adjustments and then import as a new dataflow but AllowNativeQueries has to be set to false on import meaning that in order to get the dataflow to run I would always have to do the UI edit/validation process which again takes forever.   Thanks! ... Desktop possible bug preventing selecting relationship line in model view

In Power BI Desktop Model View I have trouble hovering over a relationship line between two tables. When I hover over a line a different line highlights, sometimes two lines over. In the image below, if I hover over or try to select either of the two bottom lines I can only select or highlight the second line down down from the top, the currently green line in the image. However, I can hover over the top line and it works as it should. The orientation of the lines, vertical or horizontal, does not matter. Some are further apart and it happens. Nothing changes if I zoom in or out and I am using the current update for October. Has anyone experienced this or have a solution?   Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks ... View more

I tested what you said, I created 2 relationships and when I mouse over the relationship, the one highlighted is the one selected by the mouse. You can refer to what I did. My Desktop version is 2.122.746.0 64-bit (October 2023).

Refreshes failing in Power BI service - "internal service error"

We are experiencing a rash of refreshes failing.  This started Friday (8/13).  It seems to maybe be related to us upgrading to the latest desktop version.  The desktop Power Query editor seems to be really slow as well and datasets that we haven't opened and republished from the new desktop version seem to be working as expected. We are using Amazon Redshift as our source database.   Here are 2 examples of the failures that are happening: "CASE" Something went wrong The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error. Scheduled refresh is not working but no issues with manual refresh

I have an odd one I have not seen before. I have a data model that has a scheduled refresh active, and Power BI notates when the next scheduled service will run but it never does. As subject said, I cannot scroll all the way to the bottom on the Data panel, I installed the latest version of Power Bi Desktop via Microsoft Store. Hi Everyone!   This is my first post so I hope I am doing this correctly. Trying to apply the Score Sentiment using AI Insights but continue to recevie the following error:   DataSource.Error: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'An internal error occurred.' Details: DataSourceKind=AIFunctions DataSourcePath=AIFunctions   Searched everywhere and ca not find a fix.
