Receive refresh failed error, but report actually updates.

I have a report connecting to a live SQL database that updates every few hours from 8am to 7pm.

 

Recently the error message has been emailed to me after every refresh attempt:

 

The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error.

However when I look at the report the refresh did succeed.

 

The emails would be ignorable but after a time the refresh is disabled and has to be reactivated

 

XX_Report data refresh disabled.

 

The refresh normally only takes a second or 2 so timing out isn't an issue, and has been working for several months with no problems before this issue started. A new version of the report has been deployed recently which may be a factor.

Hi @rls,

 

I would suggest you download the report and open it in Power BI desktop, check if there is an error when you refresh report in desktop.

With that error, the report refreshes but the dashboard doesn't. Going to the report and back to the dashboard refreshes dashboard as well. Can also do "Refresh Dashboard Tiles" to refresh the dashboard.

I have been having the same issue too with my gateway since early April
