Gettig Debug error in Embedded PBI

We are getting debug assert failed: unsupported filter type, while exporting data directly to Power BI, but in some reports. However, the texture for all the reports are same and no new code has been applied yet.

@meenakshi_bhati

Are you trying to export data in embedded PBI report? Please take a look at this thread to see if you are talking about the same issue.

Hi Herbert,

Thanks for writing. We have updated our Power BI desktop with a new version (latest release). After which the error somehow vanished. However, today, it popped up again.

Let me re-phrase the error for better understanding:

It is not a data export scenario. We get the error while seeing report in power bi embedded on a website. It happens only in situations when there's a slicer on the report - that slicer is working on a Date Time field (in the new version of Power BI, it auto converts it to a Date Calendar control along with start/end date range line). Do note that the field is a Date Time field and has a UTC date time format value in backend (example: 2016-12-13 14:55:31.967). The Error comes in power bi embedded whenever slicer start or end date range is changed to anything other than the min / max date slicer auto picks based on available data. The report is working in Direct Query mode. No error when working within Power Bi Desktop.

Hi Herbert,

Some more errors we are getting, if you could help!!

-Tried creating a custom column on the datetime field > column transfer to convert it into 'Date' instead of Date-Time > it shows only Date values. Mapped this Date field to the Slicer. Still the same issue. It seems to be an issue with the Slicer's handling of Date field when showing in Power Bi embedded"

-There is some error in the way power bi's slicer control handles date fields when choosing "Between" / or Range options,when we change the slicer to show  as a Dropdown instead - it works perfectly fine within power bi embedded (in website). We've tried changing date time to date field but that doesn't seem to fix the issue when the slicer is configured to show "Between" (dates in Range).This is a bug in power bi embedded's handling of date ranges in slicer control
