[Error] Power Bi Web App - HTTP 401 Error on https://app.powerbi.com/?noSignUpCheck=1

Background:

* I have 2 work account that is used with the webapp, and sometimes I used hotmail account to login other microsoft services (which does not has access to web app.)

Browser:

* Chrome 67

Found following 2 issues that may be related to this issue:

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Internet-Explorer-quot-NoSignUpCheck-1-quot-login-issue/idi-...

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/HTTP-401-Error-when-visiting-Power-BI-Publish-to-Web-Embedd...

Not exactly sure how to reproduce this issue, but it may have to do somthing with expired cookies or something related to cookies.

To fix the issue I deleted the cookie called .AspNet.Cookies which allowed me to log right back in correctly (note that I actually deleted all app.powerbi.com cookies one by one to get to this conclusion)

Also, note that I have tested this in Chrome Incognito mode while this issue was happening and it ran fine in there, hence cookies or cache issue.

I assume restarting the computer or all browser instances may be the work around but IMO this should be fixed for better user experience.

Thanks!

Hi @Zunair,

Would you please run Fiddler trace with below option enabled then repeat steps to reproduce the issue? Share .saz file with us.

Like i mentioned in my OP, it will be hard to reproduce since it may be around expiring cookies. And could take several days to reproduce, it'll be better if devs can do some tests in the dev env by changing expiry to smaller time then log into multiple accounts without loging out. See my OP again.

Thanks

Hi @Zunair,

Yes, I know this. But we need to check if Fiddler does send something to PBI. If not, then you might need to show it to a AAD support expert.
