Error: Failed to update data source credentials - occurs when refreshing SharePoint list source

When trying to refresh a SharePoint list data source from Power BI Online, I get an error saying the credentials I provided for the data source are invalid. Then when I go to edit the credentials I get the following error:

Does anyone know what's going on? I've seen some other posts that indicate this may be a MFA issue?

I just tested the same scenario as you and I could update data source credentials successfully.

Have you enabled MFA in your environment? If so, this is currently by design. The temporary solution is to disable the MFA for the user.

Are there any other options then disableing MFA.  Can an app password be used?
