After May Update, Slicer Drop Down missing; and BI freezes for a long time when going to options

I'm not sure what happened, but the drop down feature in slicers is now missing. And going to options takes a long time to load.

Update... some fields when put into slicers have dropdown and some don't. Are dropdown fields only available for certain field types?

I cannot repro the same issue on my side. Both the option and dropdown slicer works well.

Which field type does not have the dropdown option in your scenario? Please make sure you've turned on Header in the format pane.

I didn't realize dropdown is only available when header is enabled.

That means I have to rename my header from the fields list though. darn.

The option screen still takes a long time to open now...
