reformat.Error: External table is not in the expected format. While connecting to xlsb file.

Hello,

I am try to query a data using Power Query from a SharePoint folder which contains a Excel file in XLSB format. When i try to click on the Binary and expand the below error comes up:

DataFormat.Error: External table is not in the expected format.
Details:
de4fb2e6-210a-4610-9ea3-b5138919d41e.XLS

I am the Site collection admin for the SharePoint site so access should not be a issue.

The excel i am trying to connect contains other sheets which are protected. but the sheet that i am quering is not protected.

@Sabarikumar7579,

What connector do you use in Power Query to connect to the Excel file? How about you use the SharePoint Folder connector in Power BI Desktop to connect to the .xlsb file? I have no issues when connecting to .xlsb file stored in SharePoint folder from Power BI Desktop.

Regards,
Lydia

I had tried both the connector.

In this case the issue was the sheets are locked. When the sheets were unlocked it worked fine.

How do you unlock the sheets?
