changing the the database in a salespeople imported report

I imported a salesforse report in power BI service. There is a date field whose datatype is text as of now. How do I change the datatype form the text to date time in poewer BI?

@Anonymous If you connected to the App in the Service, there is no way to modify the model in any way in the Service. You can connect directly to Salesforce Reports from the Power BI Desktop, this allows you to choose your own data, model and change the datatypes, etc. I would recommend you download/use the Power BI Desktop if you need to extend the solution beyond what is provided in these quick apps.

@Seth_C_Bauer  I tried using desktop version. I imported data using salesforce reports,  which worked perfect. But then soon that data is going to exceed 2000 rows. Also, I tried importing data using salesforce objects, which gave me error 414(URI too long) as our salesforce object has arround 300 fields and couple of thousand rows. What could be the potential solution other that these.

@Anonymous Wow. That's painful, I haven't dealt with Salesforce directly yet, a 2,000 row limitation. Nice of Salesforce to limit that. I can think of only two ways to get what you need.

1) Custom write a connector  that loops through the API

2) Create seperate connections to the API and extract different data sets by filter, then merge the queries.

Both of these are theoretical recommendations as I haven't done either.
