Hi I just started using Power BI and I was able to create a report and also a dashboard. I would like to know how I can upload a new data set INTO an existing Dashboard or Report using excel. Said another way, keeping all my fields/hearders the same I want to replace the underlying data for a report / dashboard.
Thanks

@H20treddr,
In Power BI Service, go to Settings->Datasets and find your dataset, turn on "OneDrive Refresh" for the dataset. This way, once you change data in Excel file, changes will be updated in Power BI too, usually within about an hour.

Lydia
@H20treddr This sounds like you just want to set up refresh. For that you can download the On Premises Data Gateway (Personal) then set the schedule of the dataset in the settings of the dataset.
If you want to replace the file location, you can do that in Power BI Desktop, then just republish and it will overwrite the dataset in the Service.
Thanks Eno1978. Currently I am TRYING to publish from excel on my local machine to a file on my one-drive to update the dashboard.
@H20treddr Did you start by building your report in the Power BI Desktop? Or are you doing everything in the Service?
To start , I loaded as an excel file published to one-drive cloud and clicked to create a report from there. I appears that was was able to update the data but publishing from excel on my local machine to the one-drive file, then this was refreshing my report / dashboard.
