Using Enterprise Gateway Datasources with Excel PowerQuery

Hi,

We've recently setup the Enterprise Gateway on our server and have successfully configured a SQL Datasource, which we're using in a report with Direct Query.

We were wondering whether it's possible to use the same Datasource for Excel PowerQuery to connect to SQL? We've managed to setup Excel PowerQuery to SQL successfully, however we have had to recreate the connection to SQL within Excel and was trying to leverage off the datasources in the Enterprise Gateway instead.

Anyone had any luck with this?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Did you succeed?

We didn't have any luck so moved on! Good luck!

I am interested in a similar scenario but using SSAS MOLAP scenario.  Using Excel Workbook, using native Pivotables (directly connected to SSAS), publish Workbook into PBI Service, render via Excel Services and having the data queried live.  Similar to how PBI is working with EGW and SSAS DirectQuery.

Also looking at Excel Workbook using PowerPivot,  refresh via EGW scheduled or OnDemand
