Replicate table directly Power BI to Azure SQL DB

Hi all,

I have a table already in the Power BI service that is the result of ETL from daily csv files. This legacy data will now not need to be refreshed, so rather than storing the source on an on-prem server, is it possible to copy the data table on the service directly to an Azure SQL DB table for direct query only as / when required ?

Is this even the right approach / best practice ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @pat_energetics,

In Power BI service, we are not able to copy data table directly. You can use table visual to display all columns, then use export data feature. Also you can use Export a report from Power BI service to Desktop if possible, then use Copy Table feature in desktop.

Personally, I would suggest you use Power BI service data source in Power BI desktop, which can connect to the shared dataset in Power BI service. See: Connect to datasets in the Power BI service from Power BI Desktop (Preview).
