Multiple gateways in one account

Hi everyone!

I have a question about what is the best way to proceed in this case:
Many customers with their own data sources and me, one developer with one account of Power BI.

Is it possible to create many On premise gateway (one for each customer data source) with my account? Is this recomendable?

If this way is possible, It would be necessary to install a Gateway in every customer server?

There are other possibilities in this scenario?
What is the best way?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

You can install multiple data gateways under your Power BI account. It is recommended to have the gateway as close to the data source as possible to avoid network latency. See: On-Premises Data Gateway FAQ

So in your scenario, to make sure data gateway can connect to customer's data source, it's better to install each gateway on customer's server, and sign in the data gateway with your Power BI account. Then those data gateway will be available in Manage Gateways when you go to your Power BI service site. Before install data gateway, please review requirements.

However, on-premise data gateway can only be share with users within the same organization. It means if the customer is outside of your organization, you can't share your data gateway with your customers and the customer can't use your data gateway to configure for the dataset. The user must to configure data gateway under his Power BI account or get shared gateway by other customers in his organization.
