Is there any way to "connect" to an excel, without having to import the data?

Is there any way to "connect" to an excel, without having to import the data into the pbix file? in other words- having a live connection (similar to SSAS) to an excel sheet, where no data is stored in the pbix, and the user credentions are used to query live.

I don't believe in the way that you are referring to. If your file is on OneDrive, you have the option to import or connect, but it is not really "live" connection to the data like what you can do to a SSAS tabular model.
