Hi All,
I am trying to understand, but not able to find, any documentation on how a live connection to a SSAS Cube works when publishing from Power BI Desktop into an App space in Office365.
Example in Power BI Desktop:
Live connect to "SSAS Cube XYZ" -> Build Report -> Save File -> Publish to O365 PBI App
In this senario the dataset in the app appears with the same name the .pbix file is saved as. However, working strictly through the O365 Power BI interface and connecting to the same cube, I see the "SSAS Cube XYZ" name as the dataset.
Can anyone explain, or point me to documentation, on the differences between how this same data source is handled when working through PBI desktop versus connected through the Office 365 PBI interface?

Hi @TripsM,
After we create a report in Power BI desktop then publish the report(if there is no the same dataset name already existed in Power BI service), there will be a new dataset and report created in Power BI service with the same name as the name as desktop file. For example, there is a pbix file name test2018, after you publish the report test 2018 from desktop to service, there will be a dataset and report named test2018 in Power BI service.
In Power BI service, when we use Get data -> SQL Server Analysis Service to connect to SSAS, it will generate a dataset named <SSAS server name> - <selected model name>.
