slicer "on open" look has changed...bummer

The March Update has changed how a slicer looks when a tab is opened.  When I'm cramped for space, it's really a bummer!!  Instead of showing the description ...and the elipsis to indicate there's more, it FIRST shows the v to indicate there's an eraser and dropdown and many times the description doesn't even show!  Not to mention, there are vvv's where ever you have a slicer on a page creating visual clutter.  Uggh.

Who decided on that?  Sure would like to see that change.  Anyone else?  Tom

If you turn "Header" off and put the slicer name in "Title" you get rid of the v and the eraser.

@dedelman_clngThanks for that--it's a good tip.  I've spent a day changing all my model slicers that do not need an eraser or searchbox to that form.

However, there are many times when you need the search box, say...not to mention the eraser (if you have a long slicer of states, for example, selected them via the search box...and want to clear them all.)

It does seem odd to have the "first view" of a slicer display less useful info than the name of the slicer, IMO....

@Greg_DecklerMy frustration here is that it WAS fine, and it's behavior was changed.  I'm guessing a developer wanted users to be more aware of the hidden tools...but didn't consider crowding out the slicer name while focusing on hidden tool awareness.

So now we have a hidden slicer name in tight spaces rather than hidden tools.  It's more like a bug than an idea.

Is that what ideas are for?  Tom

@SeanThat's very creative.  Might work.  There is a bug in this release of the hierarchy slicer that's waiting for some Powerbi functionality and internal changes before it can be released.  I've only seen it in an actual hierarchy so this may work.  (The issue is if you use the search box...make a selection on an indented level...the slicer ACTUALLY selectes the whole level)  I can try it here in a one level "hierarchy" tho and it may work!

As always...thank you for coming at this from a different angle.  Tom
