Windows Folder Permissions not working for Power BI files

Our company uses a Shared Network Drive to store our Power BI files.  But, we don't want anyone and everyone to have the ability to delete or modify them, so we attempted to put proper permissions on the Shared Drive.  Aside from the few Admins, we set all typical Users to Allow "Read & execute" and "Read":

But, when one of those typical Users tries to open a Power BI file, they get this error:

explorer_2017-12-15_11-37-48.png

However, that User can open a text file in that folder with no issue (but cannot save, as expected).

Any idea what the problem is with our current configuration?

Hi @Anonymous,

Opening pbix file as read-only is not supported currently. Here is the idea shared on Power BI Ideas forum. You can vote it up and add your comments there to improve Power BI on this feature.

In addition, here is also a similar thread for your reference. Smiley Happy

Thanks @v-ljerr-msft!  And dangit - I usually look to see if a question exists before I ask.  Sorry for the dup!
