Reference DAX table as source back in query editor

Hi, I have inputted CSV tables as source in the query editor and then used DAX to do an outer join. I was wondering is it possible to reference the resulting join table as a source back in the Query editor and manipulate the table further using M. Thanks

No, you can't do that because DAX-constructed tables are calculated after the query refresh completes. But why not just do the join in the query editor in the first place? The Merge button is perfectly capable of outer joins.

Hi KHorseman, Thank you for the reply. I am looking into merging the tables in the query editor itself now. There were a few operations I conducted on the dataset in DAX other than the join. These calculations seem simpler to calculate on DAX and then switching to M would make the final process much easier. I wanted to know if it was possible to switch seamlessly between M and DAX, which does not seem possible.

Hi @jamesjose23,

No, it's not possible. As KHorseman said, DAX-constructed tables are calculated after the query refresh completes. Any calculation in DAX won't be recognized in M query.
