I have created a report using a live connection to a multidim cube in SSAS. It worked fine before the weekend. Sunday there was a patching of the server, and now I get an error message (shown below int the technical details), when I open the report in desktop or powerbi.com, or try to re-create the connection in a new pbix-file.
The cube is on a Developer64 server. I tried to deploy it to an EnterpriceCore server, but the connection would still not work.
The issue must be with the live connection and the cubes in that database. It works fine to connect to the cube in Excel, browsing the cube in Management studio and also the “Import” function in Power BI, but NOT the live connection. The other cube in the same database is not working either, but cubes in other databases on that same server work fine.
Can somebody please help me?

Based on the error, it seems the issue is on the relational data source used by SSAS cube. Please test in SSMS to see if you can connect the relational data source properly. And then reprocess the cube and connect in Power BI Desktop.
If it still doesn't work, I suggest you create a support ticket.

Hello!
Thank you for your reply 🙂
I have tried what you suggested, but still no result. Let's see what support can find out.

Hi,
I have the same issue. Were they able to help you?
Thanks for your feedback.
No, I had to create a new one.
But did you recently change the name of the cube/model? That might also cause it also. If you change it back, then it should work again 🙂 Hope it works out! Let me know!
