Pre Filtering Visual

Hi all,

Is there a way to have a dashboard loaded with visualizations where their legend is defaulted to a certain selection?

Eg I have a Legend for:

This Year

Last Year

I want to have my visual loaded so that it defaults for data being selected for This Year.

Is this possible?

Hi @Anonymous

You can very easily do this with the relative Date slicer in the May update of Power BI Desktop.

You will first need to download and install Power BI Desktop May edition.

Then create a slicer and put in your Date column.

Then from the drop down select "Relative"

Then configure it for the Last 1 Year (Meaning the current Year)

Then every time you refresh your data it will update based on the relative date.

Here is an example picture

And here is the blog post: Power BI Desktop May Update

Thnaks but it doesn't solve my issue.

The legend does not become visible if i use the date slicer as there is no data.

Hi,

If you want to load a special legend, you can use visual level filter. When you apply the filter, then save the file.  I wonder if this is what you want. Hope this would help.
