Hi,

Has anybody got solution to it other than installing 32 bit PowerBI ? i think Microsoft should investigate it as its affecting lot of users.

I'm having the same issue after updating Windows 10 today. The event data and XML from event viewer is below. It appears to be CefSharp.BrowserSubProcess.exe that's at fault as has been found before in this thread.

I don't get any error dialogue or options to debug. I just get the splash screen then it quits without an error message.

I have tried re-installing PBI and uninstalling the updates both with no joy.

Same issue here ..

Same exception PBI will not start neither after reinstall nor w / Admin privs.

any news ?

Have you recently updated Windows? My issue started after that. I eventually rolled back to a previous build and PBI works again. Haven't found a fix for the problem if you want to keep the Windows updates though.

hey,

Yes indeed I did update it .

I went back to 32bit of PBDesktop that helpded temporarily.

I expect MS to fix this issue 🙂

Wont roll back on W10 ..

It looks like mshtml.dll is related to Internet Explorer, so maybe that is corrupted or something?

Found that out here

@syedaliammar, do you have all the windows updates ?

@akjana resolved by upgrading to IE 11. Sorry couldn't provide further crash details.

Hi,

I am having the same issue, just get a splash screen when starting Power BI desktop and then errors out with Debug or Close. The below is error log from event viewer. Tried uninstalling, rebooting, re-downloading, re-installing and running as administrator in the exact same order a bunch of times. Still no luck !

I have Core i7 2.8GHz Processor, IE11.0, Windows 7 Enterprise, .NET 4.5/4.6 and 32GB Memory . The requirements  meet Microsoft's specs, No clue whats going on here.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

@smendes have you run through the steps that others have made in this thread? Upgraded to ie 11, etc?

Are you on the latest Desktop version? 2.36.4434.362 64-bit (June 2016)

@akjana Windows updates are managed by our sys admins. I do have .Net FW 4.6 installed though (just FYI)

I have been experiencing major issues with stability of Power BI Desktop since the last update. Crashes, freezes and gives errors several times per day. Was fine before the update... 😞

Hi @Peterhof

I had the same problem has you.

I've downloaded the latest version and installed it on a W7 VM, where I've got the previous one, and It crash.

when I uninstalled it, I saw that the previous version was still installed on the VM. I believed It have updated the previous one but no.

Perhaps you figure the same issue as me, so don't paniq, just unistall both of them, and everything should be good.

Hope it helps

Sebastien

Same problem...just downloaded today and it won't run.  Crashes at the exact same point as the other poster noted.  Rebooted, ran as administrator, no difference.

Any solution?
