Power BI does not import full Data cube

Hi,

We are collecting some quantity and cost information against some of our organisational units and wanted to report the information in the form of a data cube. its done and datacube which essentially use a parent child hierarchy in a self referenced Organisational unit table and the quantity and cost fields in the transaction table as measures. The heirarchy of the organisational unit is extended up to 7 levels ie. starting from Corporation, Organisation, etc.. But for some organisational unit the data collection may happen above the last level or before.

Now the issue is I can see the expected result when i connect the data cube to excel but due to some reason power bi doesnt import the organisational units which are collecting data at an intermediate level.

As shown in pictures, the first one in excel, second one shows - specialist division - joinery etc is collecting data at level6 but the ou structure has got a level upto 7.  The records shows all these before linking to a measure

In the third one, since i linked the measures all the rows related to the hierachy which is collecting data at level 6 but has a level beyond that is disappeared.

Can anybody help me to resolve this. I',m using sql server 2012 standard edition

Hi Herbert

Thanks for your response,

I confirm the version of powerBI is Feb 2017 - Version: 2.43.4647.541 64-bit (February 2017)

and the sql DB we are running on SP2

I tried installing trial version of SQL 2016 and tried connect live option and found it is working fine.

Thanks again

Regards,

Tony

@tonichan78

There are some limitations of SSAS Multidimensional Models in Power BI Desktop. Servers must be running SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU4 or later versions of Analysis Services for the Power BI Desktop SSAS MD connector to work properly. Have you applied SP1 CU4 for you SQL 2012? And are you using the latest Feb 2017 version of Power BI Desktop?

Best Regards,

Herbert
