Let's say I have the following reports and datasets in power bi web.
Reports - MyReport
Datasets - MyDataset
I then save MyReport.pbix and edit the pbix with my power bi desktop. Then I publish it. It results in two datasets, MyDataset and a new dataset called MyReport.
Reports - MyReport
Datasets - MyDataset, MyReport
Is there a way to publish the editted pbix without creating a new dataset? I'm guessing I missed something obvious but can't seem to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Normally when you publish a dataset to the power bi service, the data set and the report will have the same name. I guess you then went ahead and created a new report on the power bi service hence the reason you have a different name for your report. Have you tried renaming the downloaded report so that it is called my dataset before republishing?
