How to do a ranking given a prior condition?

How would I go about doing a ranking on PowerBI given a prior condition?

Such as, how could I create a single column that would rank annual sales for companies in the same industry, rather than across all industries?

Appreciate all the help in advance!

Hi @toomuchnetflix,

To rank annual sales within each industry, you can create a calculated column use RANKX() function like below:

RankEachIndustry = RANKX(
             FILTER(
                 ALLSELECTED(Table1),'Table1'[Industry]=EARLIER(Table1[Industry])
                           ),
                 'Table1'[Annual Sales],
                 ,1)
