I have read a couple of the plotting problems with longitude and latitude data, but my problem already starts with importing the dataset. I have an excel file with longitude and latitude data but when loaded into power bi, the format is changed.
eg
excel
Latitude | Longitude |
513.833 | 13.8 |
power bi makes that into 5313833 for latitude and 138 for longitude
how come? do I need to adjust certain settings in excel?
I have read about the right data category, but that does not change this fact.
Thanks for any feedback!
Hi @bkspg,
I am not able to reproduce your issue. What is the data type of your columns in Excel file? And please click each step of “APPLIED STEPS” in Query Editor to verify what changes Power BI Desktop make for the Excel source.
Additionally, could you please share me the Excel file so that I can test?
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
Hi Lydia
sure, I used the csv from this page https://www.aggdata.com/free/germany-postal-codes
I changed it to an excel format - but I got the same problem using the csv file.
Hope you can help!
Many thanks!
Birgit
Hi @bkspg,
What verison of Power BI Desktop do you use? Everything works well when I import data from the CSV file to Power BI Desktop in my scenario.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
