Do the Power BI report server certify direct-connect with postgreSQL and ODBC with postgreSQL?
1. The desktop version has menu to load PostgreSQL data source and appeared the error dialog, installed the additional components from https://github.com/npgsql/Npgsql/releases but issue remains same.
2. Alternatively, If we use connect postgreSQL via ODBC it appeared error when publish to BI report server. "We can't publish this Power BI Desktop report because it contains an unsupported data source connection or embedded data. This preview version supports only Power BI desktop reports at connect live to SQL Server Analysis Service (on-premises).".
Hi @jammy,
Could you please mark the proper answer as solution if it's convenient for you? That will be a help to the others.
Best Regards!

Hi @jammy,
The information below is quoted from this official document: reportserver-connect-data-sources
>>Currently, the only data source supported for Power BI reports are a live connection to Analysis Services (tabular or multidimensional). More data sources will be added in future releases.
I am afraid PostgreSQL isn't supported by now. Sorry for the inconvenience. About your first question, what's the error message? I got it work in my computer. Could you please check these things below.
1. Install "Npgsql" in your computer, which has the Power BI Desktop;
2. Restart machine if needed.
Best Regards!
Dale
