Copying a Visual from Power BI to MS Word/ MS Power Point

Hi,

I am trying to Copy Visuals from a Power BI dashboard to a MS Word Document to create a report.

I tried Ctrl+C > Ctrl+V and alternatively tried to use Copy and Paste functions.

It seems like Power BI Visuals do NOT get copied onto the clipboard.

It does NOT matter even if the visual is pasted as a Picture.

Thank you.

@DulanM

A nifty workaround. albeit somewhat laborious, is to use the screen capture function in Word for example (apologies since my Windows is in Spanish):

ScreenShotWord.png

 For this to work smoothly, you need to have Power Bi active with the target visual (open and on screen) in the backround. While in word, select the screenshot function and Word's screen will minimise to reveal Power Bi behind. Select the portion you want and it will auto-magically appear in your word document.

Not ideal, but doable.

I was unaware of this functionality. It doesn't seem materially different from using Snagit or the snipping tool, but thank you for sharing.

It is def materially different as screen capture software significantly reduces the resolution of the displayed image as opposed.   Try it sometime - then print it out. . . . . Looks really bad.

This idea is great! Exporting a visual from Power BI to Word or PowerPoint is valuable. There are instances that sharing dashboard to other stakeholders is not enough and some stakeholders such as committees/board and other VIPs prefer a presentation.

Hi

I’m afraid it doesn’t support currently.

a workround is to publish the report to Power BI Service and then select File->Export to PowerPoint, but it would not limit the users to exporting the whole report.

Or make a screen shot of that visual.

You may vote ideas here to improve Power BI.
