I always seem to find solutions for related problems but then get stuck. So here is my specific question:
I have a table (imagine that) with date_as_of, MonthYear, employeeID, company, headcount.
This table is a monthly snapshot so every month all of the employees data are collected.
I have a complex Date table with a bridge table connecting MonthYear
I am in a visualization (cluster bar chart) that counts headcount on the Y-Axis and Year across the X-Axis (clustered by company).
What I am getting is a sum of all months in the year. So if we had 100 headcount a month then the annual total is 1200.
Now I could filter by December but that doesn't record the last month of the current year.
I have an EndOfYear column in my date table (it displays the last date of the year) and when I filter by it there is no change. I thought this would work considering the date_as_of happens on the last day of the month. When I have it pick up the month of that date now it'll filter by December AND whatever the last month of 2018 is.
I am certain I am missing some fundamental thing. Any ideas are much apreciated.
Best regards,
~Don
