Best Way of Moving .pbix Calculations/Mesures from Running off of Excel to a Live Database?

Hi all,

Before I got access to my database, I wrote all my reports in Excel files. Now I'm not sure how to take all of that work and put it into the report that connects to the database. How would you recommend going about this?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous

  • Backup your .pbix file
  • Start to change Connection of data source:
    1. Connect to your database and choose needed tables
    2. go to Edit Queries -> Choose one query of table -> Advanced Editor -> copy lines that getting data source ->replace the getting excel lines by copied lines

After that, there are some additional steps to handle mismatch or not correct type or not correct field name and making relationships between tables. Just go ahead, we are here to support you ^_^
