After update Save As Report Server is Missing

Hi,

i updated my Power BI Desktop Version to: 2.50.4859.502 64-bit (September 2017) and since then i can't save my reports to the Reporting Server. The option Save As to Report Server doesn't exist anymore. The Version of the Report Server is Version (August 2017 Preview). Before the update everything worked fine.

Thank You for your helps!

Hi @TD,

As far as I know, Power BI Desktop has a special branch for Report Server. The general version doesn't have the feature for Report Server. You should install the optimized version of Desktop. Reference: reportserver-install-powerbi-desktop.

Dektop for Report Server: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55329&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=....

hi,, just so I know, I really don't need two versions, one for desktop and one optimized for Server, do I?

It sounds like if I plan on hosting things locally, I should go ahead and drop the desktop only install and work with the Server Optimized version.

Am I understanding correctly?

thx,

M@

Hi @mattcushing,

I think you are right. The Server Optimized version has all the features. But if you want to try some new features, you would have to use the general version that is upgraded monthly.

Thank You @v-jiascu-msft!

I deleted the older version and installed the optimized version of desktop for reporting server, now everything works fine again.
