Create a custom visualization to integrate with ggplot2 graphics.

github repository: https://github.com/s-ifti/PowerBI-visuals

ggplot2 graphics is an excellent tool for generating graphs within R language.
ggplot2 is based on Grammar of Graphics principles developed by Leland Wilkinson.

This visualization can be useful in usecases where you have to
integrate descriptive analytics of PowerBI with statistical analysis output from R.
In future we could also integrate it with R analytics running within Azure Machine workflows.

To run an R instance as a web server look at the example server script used by this visualization at

This is really fantastic.

Is it just showing the graph from ggplot2? Or, is there a way to interact by supplying a different set of data as you filter or use a slicer etc.

This Sept. 2015 BI workshop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5pVyhIb2wA  at about 25 min in a 35 minute session shows interactive R integration including ggplot2; so I expect native R integration shortly.

An R visual, like other visualizations, has an area to drop the fields from the data model that you want to visualize. If you plot these the visualization will update on filter or slicer changes and reflect the new values.
