Enhanced Map with Custom Geography (SQL Server-compatible via WKT/STAsText)

The enhanced map for Power BI offers anyone a starting place who would like to incorporate the popular Leaflet JS mapping framework into Power BI. D3 provides scales to handle the fill for polygons (choropleth map) as well as optional areas for points (bubble map).

A set of open source tile layers are provided with attribution to Open Street Map, CartoDB, and Stamen where appropriate. In addition, custom image overlays as well as an option for no base tiles are available.

Integration of SQL Server geography is available via WKT or Well Known Text format using the .STAsText() function. This is more of a proof of concept for integrating Leaflet with Power BI, so other popular geo data formats are not currently available but could certainly be added at a later time.

Awesome.Smiley Wink

I want to use Enhanced Map.

Please add map language option, to change map language from English to Japanese.

I'll have to research whether this can be done on a chart by chart basis. I've never worked with Globalize.JS, which is what the Power BI team is using for internationalization.

Hi deldervseld.

The Bing map can use Japanese.
But, Power BI' map visual cann not use Japanese.
I hope Power BI's map visual and your Enhanced map to support Japanese.

Hi deldersveld,

We want to embed polygon on the filled map in POWER BI. Looks like the steps you have mentioned in the link https://github.com/deldersveld/PowerBI-visuals are talking about loading a map in html page in web application and not about POWER BI.

Could you please help us with any samples / pointers, on how to load polygon in Power BI.

Thanks

Sandeep
